Our Woods Powr-Grip vacuum mounts are available in 7kg, 18kg and 32kg capacities making them ideal for securing a wide range of portable electronic equipment and cameras onto non-porous surfaces.

Our mounting cups can fix anything from photographic equipment and navigation systems to radios and measuring equipment onto vehicle bonnets and dashboards, as long as the device fits the mounting cups threaded stud or insert.

Most of our suction mounts are fitted with a ¼”-20 threaded stud which is compatible with most electrical devices with the matching industry standard ¼”-20 threaded insert. However, as some tripod head mounts and some larger, more specialist cameras have a 3/8”-16 threaded insert, we stock a 3/8”-16 threaded stud mount too.

The way that screw thread stud/ insert size is described for suction mounts or electronic equipment can be confusing, especially when sometimes imperial measurements are used and other times it is written in metric.  Here’s brief guide to how to work out which suction mount will be compatible with your device.

Take our bestselling 7kg TL3AMB suction mount for example, its threaded stud can be described as…

¼”-20 x 5/8”

The ¼” value refers to the diameter in inches of the threaded section of the screw, the 20 indicates that there are 20 threads per inch of the stud and the 5/8” value refers to the length of the stud

Imperial thread measurements

¼”-20 threaded studs and inserts are often referred to as ¼”-20 UNC according to the Unified Thread Standard, and 3/8”-16 studs and inserts are 3/8”-16 UNC.

The other system of writing this using metric measurements is…

M6x1 x 16

The 6 is the diameter of the stud in millimetres, the 1 is the “thread pitch” which is the distance in mm between each thread and 16 is the length of the stud in mm.

Metric measurements

Here are the thread sizes for the rest of the suction mounts available to buy on the GGR Glass website…
